Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, installing, registering, signing in, or using VTU Circle, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must discontinue use of the platform immediately.

These Terms apply to all users of VTU Circle, including users who access the Android app, website, account features, results, rankings, notes, PDFs, updates, chat features, support features, or any other service provided by VTU Circle.

2. About VTU Circle

VTU Circle is an independent student-focused platform created to assist students by providing access to academic-related tools and information such as results, rankings, SGPA, CGPA, percentage calculation, notes, PDFs, question papers, syllabus, circulars, timetable updates, and other student-related updates.

VTU Circle is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), any college, government authority, or official academic body.

Any official academic information, result, notice, circular, timetable, syllabus, or academic record should always be verified from VTU’s official website or authorized official sources.

3. Description of Services

VTU Circle provides student-focused features such as result viewing, result history, SGPA, CGPA, percentage calculation, class rank, university rank, performance insights, notes, PDFs, syllabus files, question papers, circular updates, timetable updates, notifications, support options, and other academic tools.

VTU Circle may also provide account-based features such as profile management, follow and follower connections, one-to-one realtime chat between users who follow each other, academic updates, document access, saved results, and other student-related features.

These services are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. We may modify, update, improve, restrict, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time for technical, security, operational, legal, or service-related reasons.

4. Account Registration and Login

Some features of VTU Circle may require users to create an account or sign in. Users may create an account using email/password or sign in using Google login, where available.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your password, misuse another user’s account, or attempt to access any account without permission.

Phone number is not required for login. Phone number may be collected only as an optional profile detail if you choose to add it to your profile.

You agree to provide accurate and up-to-date account, profile, and academic information. VTU Circle is not responsible for issues caused by incorrect, outdated, incomplete, or false information submitted by users.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to use VTU Circle responsibly, lawfully, and only for educational, academic, informational, and personal student-related purposes.

You must not misuse the platform in any way that could harm VTU Circle, other users, our systems, our servers, third-party services, or the availability and security of the platform.

Prohibited activities include:

• Attempting unauthorized access to systems, accounts, APIs, servers, databases, or data
• Using bots, automated scraping, reverse engineering, or unauthorized automation
• Uploading, submitting, or transmitting malicious, harmful, illegal, or misleading content
• Providing false, inaccurate, impersonated, or misleading information
• Interfering with app security, server stability, notifications, chat, or user accounts
• Misusing results, rankings, academic data, notes, PDFs, or updates for harmful purposes
• Violating any applicable law, regulation, policy, or third-party right

6. User Information

Some features require you to provide personal, account, profile, or academic information such as your name, email address, gender, USN, college name, scheme, batch, branch, semester, and other academic profile details. You may optionally add a bio and phone number to your profile. VTU Circle does not provide profile photo uploads; users may select an avatar from the options provided within the app.

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and up to date. Incorrect information may affect result display, ranking calculation, SGPA, CGPA, percentage calculation, profile features, notifications, or other app features.

Your use of VTU Circle is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored, protected, and deleted.

7. Academic Data, Results and Rankings

VTU Circle may retrieve and display marks, subject details, result status, and semester information from VTU result pages. Based on result data saved in the platform, VTU Circle may calculate SGPA, CGPA, percentage, performance insights, class rank, and university rank. These features are provided for convenience, comparison, and informational purposes only.

Saved result information may be visible to other VTU Circle users through result views, ranking tables, and related academic features. Class rank and university rank are unofficial comparisons calculated only from result data currently saved in VTU Circle and may not include every VTU student.

Although we try to keep information accurate and useful, we do not guarantee that academic data, results, rankings, calculations, insights, notes, PDFs, circulars, or updates will always be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Users must verify all official academic records, results, notices, circulars, and decisions from VTU’s official website or authorized official sources before relying on the information shown in VTU Circle.

VTU Circle does not replace official VTU records, official result pages, official notices, official circulars, or authorized academic documents.

8. One-to-One Chat

VTU Circle provides one-to-one realtime chat only between users who follow each other. Chat is not a public or group chat feature and currently supports text messages only. It is intended for student communication within the limits of the app.

Users are responsible for the messages and content they send through chat. Users must not send abusive, harmful, threatening, misleading, illegal, spam, obscene, harassing, discriminatory, impersonating, or unauthorized content.

Chat messages are temporary and are automatically deleted after 24 hours. VTU Circle does not provide permanent chat history or long-term chat-message storage. Users should not use chat to store or send important academic, personal, legal, financial, confidential, or sensitive information.

VTU Circle may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if a user misuses chat, harms other users, violates these Terms, or uses chat for illegal, abusive, or unsafe activity.

9. Content Usage

Content available on VTU Circle, including notes, PDFs, syllabus files, question papers, academic materials, circulars, timetable information, and updates, is intended for personal, educational, and informational use only.

You may download and use content made available through VTU Circle for your personal, educational, and non-commercial use. You may not sell, commercially exploit, unlawfully modify, redistribute, republish, upload elsewhere, or misuse such content without permission from the applicable rights holder or another valid legal right.

Some content may be sourced from publicly available academic resources, user-requested links, official sources, or third-party sources. Ownership and rights of such content remain with their respective owners.

10. Support, Feedback and Bug Reports

VTU Circle may provide support, feedback, and bug report features. When you submit feedback, support requests, or bug reports, you agree that we may use the information you provide to understand the issue, respond to your request, improve the app, and fix technical problems.

Bug reports submitted through the app may be sent to our internal Discord workspace through a webhook so our admin or support team can review and fix issues.

You must not submit abusive, false, misleading, illegal, harmful, or unrelated content through support, contact, feedback, or bug report features.

11. Third-Party Services

VTU Circle may use or integrate third-party services such as Google Play Services, Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In for Google account authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, Hostinger SMTP for account-related emails, Cloudflare for CDN and security, Cloudflare R2 object storage and Google Drive for academic-document storage or delivery, and Discord webhook integration for bug reports.

These third-party services may be used for authentication, push notifications, security, hosting, app delivery, realtime communication, support, debugging, bug reporting, and service operation.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, policies, terms, privacy practices, outages, or actions of third-party services. Your use of third-party services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

VTU Circle does not currently show third-party advertisements or use advertising SDKs such as Google AdMob. The VTU Circle Android app does not currently use third-party analytics or automatic crash-reporting SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or Sentry. Google Analytics is used only on VTU Circle’s app-related website to measure general website traffic and usage. If we introduce advertising, analytics within the Android app, automatic crash reporting, or other new third-party services, we will update our Privacy Policy and relevant declarations before releasing those features.

12. App Permissions

VTU Circle requires internet access to provide its online features and may request notification permission to deliver service-related and academic notifications.

VTU Circle allows users to open or download PDFs, notes, question papers, syllabus files, circulars, and other academic documents. Downloaded files are saved to the device’s public Downloads folder using Android’s system download functionality. VTU Circle does not request broad storage, media, photo, video, or all-files access and does not browse, scan, read, upload, or collect personal or unrelated files stored on the device.

Notification permission may be used to send result alerts, VTU circulars, timetable updates, document updates, chat notifications, and other academic announcements. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications.

Users can manage app permissions anytime from their device settings.

13. Account Deletion

Users may request deletion of their VTU Circle account and associated personal data. The VTU Circle app may show or open the account deletion information page, but actual account deletion requests must be submitted by email.

VTU Circle does not currently provide an automatic account deletion form. Users must send the deletion request from their registered email address so that account ownership can be verified before deletion is processed.

Account deletion requests may require verification. After successful verification, our admin or support team will manually delete the requested account and its associated personal data.

The account and all associated personal data and copies, including data stored in active systems and backups, will be permanently deleted within 30 days after the verified deletion request is received.

Deleting the app from your device does not automatically delete your VTU Circle account or associated data. To delete your account and data, you must submit a deletion request by email.

14. Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always-available operation of VTU Circle. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, server issues, network problems, third-party service outages, high traffic, updates, security actions, or external factors outside our control.

We may update, restrict, suspend, or remove any feature when required for security, performance, legal compliance, maintenance, or product improvement.

15. Limitation of Liability

VTU Circle is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VTU Circle, its owners, developers, team members, and service providers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or other damages resulting from the use of or inability to use the platform.

This includes, but is not limited to, errors in results, incorrect data, ranking differences, calculation errors, delayed updates, missing information, service interruptions, technical failures, account issues, notification delays, PDF access issues, or reliance on unofficial information.

16. Termination

When an account is suspended, the user may be prevented from signing in or accessing VTU Circle and its account-based features until the suspension is reviewed and lifted by our admin or support team.

We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to VTU Circle if users violate these Terms, misuse the platform, harm other users, attempt unauthorized access, abuse chat or support features, submit false information, or engage in illegal, unsafe, or harmful activity.

We may also restrict access when required for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, or protection of the platform and its users.

17. Privacy

Your use of VTU Circle is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how your data is collected, used, stored, protected, shared, and deleted.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our app, website, services, legal requirements, third-party services, security practices, or operating needs.

Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of VTU Circle after changes means you accept the updated Terms & Conditions.

19. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India.

Any disputes relating to these Terms, the app, website, services, or use of VTU Circle shall be handled according to applicable laws and appropriate legal jurisdiction in India.
